Crossmatch or compatibility test
Crossmatch is based on the magnetization of red blood cells. This principle method uses an Indirect Antiglobulin Test (IAT), in the solid phase, combined with a magnetic field.
Crossmatch is performed when checking the compatibility between the antigens expressed at the surface of donors’ RBC and antibodies that might be present in the plasma or serum of the recipient.
