"There are more links than we think between the world of sport and business " commented JF LAMOUR, the ex-French sports minister.
Indeed, sport and business do enjoy the same values, namely team spirit, reaching objectives and striving for excellence and also the same motivation in terms of excellence and the encouragement of individual success.
Aside talks and promotional communication coming from managers, the various actions and behaviors that really contribute to this high performance should be well co-ordinated, with effective speeches and practices.
When a company chooses to associate the idea of sport to its image, it is a strategic action but, in the case of DIAGAST, it is above all a real desire to support a humanitarian cause.
Below the last sporting events in which DIAGAST took part.

2007
Marathon des Sables
was the perfect opportunity
to bring a financial
and media support to all these associations who daily fight
to advance research
against genetic (or
not) deseases. Media answered perfectly the call launched by the A.F.S.E. and DIAGAST and
covered the event by the publication of many articles in the national and
regional newspapers. On the other side, TEAM Globules, thanks to the Philippe REMOND
5th place (
individual) and its 8th place (teams), proudly carried high and strong the colors
of the A.F.S.E. and thus sportly contributed to a better recognition of
this association. Onwww.teamglobules.com
, the
Team Globules
blog, you still can
revive the seven stages
of this sporting and
human aventure.
2006
FUN RUN 3rd EDITION (November 9th) : "Run to save lives" !
FUN
RUN third edition took place on Thursday,
November
9th around the "Grande Arche de La Défense"
in Paris. FUN RUN is a humanitarian race
to raise fund to support the A.F.S.E.(French Association against Evans Syndrome) research
program. More than 60 runners registered
either as individual runner or as a
3 runners team (The registration fees will be completely transferred
to the A.F.S.E.).
Each runner or team had to run
for 30 minutes on a racing track around the "Arche de la Défense".
KMS
was dealing with the official time-keeping : its experience
of the high level competition as well as the magnificent
starting Arch were welcome. A solemn Carmina Burana
started
the race. Some runners took a top speed start, some
prefered to move off softly. A company registered 3
teams, dressed up in jaguar, with an heavy but synthetic
fur. That was not the best sportwear to win the
race but they
become famous from the first loop...In the end, that
was very lively !
François Moussel, biologist
in Mantes-La-Jolie Hospital, who already entered the 2004 and
2005 DIAGAST Fun Run, won this third edition.
He made 15 laps of La Grande Arche (7,5 km) at an average
speed of 15,21 km an hour. The
3 godfathers of 2006 Fun Run, Camille Cierpik, french
young high level triathlete (sponsored by DIAGAST), Adrianna Lamalle,
100 meters hurdles french champion and Mr Cyrille Van der Voort, A.F.S.E
president. gave to the winners, cups and medals. Unfortunately, Muriel Hurtis, godmother
of the association, could not enter this event.
Women
classification : Magali Bilocq 3rd, Camille Cierpik
1st and Virginie Murat 2nd
Man
classification : François Moussel 1st, Sébastien
Sergent 3rd and Pascal Desmet 2nd
More
than 2 200 euros have been gathered for the association.
Yves
Barbreau,DIAGAST CEO, confirms his
commitment to A.F.S.E for 2007 and wishes to
see you again for the fourth edition. Same location,
same date for 2007 : "Run to save lives" will
stay the concrete leitmotiv.
Special
thanks to EPAD, KMS, Biologists Syndicate,
SFRL and Tanghe Printing for their support.
THE
MONT-BLANC ULTRA-TRAIL 2006 (August 25-27 2006) : A incredible
human adventure !
They
spoke about this race for a long
time :
a trail crossing 3 countries,
on a course of 158 km into 1 only
stage, through 10 cols with
more than 2000 m of altitude for
uneven of 8.500 m. This charactéristics
caused interrogations and fears
but also pins and needles in their
legs. Our 6 trailers (Christelle, Veronique, Jean-Patrick,
Eric, Bastien and Yves) after a
perfectly gauged training, launched
out into this incredible adventure.
They knew they have to go beyond
their limits but never get into
a state of danger, to reach the
finishing line.
The
night, the cold, the rain, the falls,
the wounds or the non-observance
of the very severe times of passage
have alas forced the majority
of them to surrender (Only
Eric has reached the finishing
line of the 86 km semi-trail).
But the virus of the trail is very
contagious and there is no doubt
they will be back again in
2007 with sticks of walk, head light
and especially the desire for going
even further.
MARATHON DE PARIS 2006 (April 9th 2006) : A homogeneous team and a growing desire
to start again !
9
enthusiastic and motivated DIAGAST employees took
part at the 30th edition of Paris Marathon (april
9th) by
a perfect sunny day. For
some of them, that was only a simple preparation before
much more difficult objectives
- The 100 kms of Belvès (22th april) or the
Ultra
Trail of the Mont-Blanc (25-27th august). For
the others, this was the major event of the Season.
But
for all, that was the opportunity to apply the essential
values shared by the DIAGAST employees : team spirit
and surpassing oneself. 9 runners on the finishing
line : the
assessment is clearly positive. Each runner could
benefit from the encouragements
of a numerous audience and from the animations
through the circuit (between Bastille, Champs-Elysées,
Boulogne's wood and Seine's embankments). Each runner
will keep a pleasant memory of this marathon.
2nd
FUN RUN (PARIS - November 4th 2005) J.I.B (International
Days of Biology)
The Fun Run is an invitation-only
race, reserved for biologists. The
2nd edition took place on the edges
of Lower Lake (Boulogne Wood) during
the International Days of Biology Exhibition.
In return for this muscular effort,
DIAGAST has promised to
donate to A.F.S.E. (French
Association of Evans Syndrome), 1 € for
each kilometer covered by each runner.
In
spite of a weak participation level, DIAGAST has
decided
to renew the experience for November
2006. At the present time, we don't
know
where and when the 3rd edition will
take place. But we put our trust
in your heart and your goodwill
to make a great contribution to
this indispensable humanitarian action.
LA
DIAGONALE DES FOUS (REUNION ISLAND October 21-23 2005)
: Citius, altius, fortius
After a first successful experiment
in the field of "extreme running"
(Marathon des Sables 2005), our
CEO, Yves BARBREAU, supporting
again the A.F.S.E (French
Association of Evans Syndrome), has
tackled "La Diagonale des Fous"
(The Crazy Diagonal) considered
as the most difficult race in the
world. This race has become legendary for
its non-stop 140
kilometers and its 8 500 meters of positive level variation.
A race
in perfect suitability with DIAGAST
values : enthusiasm and surpassing
oneself are the keywords each teamworker
of DIAGAST tries to follow during
his daily activity.
AMSTERDAM
MARATHON
(16th october 2005) : The DIAGAST MARATHON TEAM travels
around
Since
the good team performance in the
Paris Marathon, the DIAGAST
MARATHON TEAM has its heart
set on finding again the mythic
42.195
km race, to appreciate the distinct improvement since the
Paris Marathon.
The Amsterdam Marathon was chosen for its
flat profile (propitious to good
performance) but also in view of
having some fun between friends in
the Dutch capital !! Everything
went perfectly and every
D.M.T runner has beat his best
performance.
PARIS
Marathon (10th april 2005) The DIAGAST MARATHON
TEAM takes up the challenge
3 men and 3 women had a daring team objective to finish the Paris marathon in the limited race time of 5hrs 40mins.
It was a huge challenge because it was the first marathon for all the team and also the first long distance race for one of the runners.
This clear lack of experience in long-distance running necessitated specific and carefully-managed training, reaching an athletic peak in 12 weeks. The physical and mental coach was no other than the CEO of DIAGAST, Mr Yves BARBREAU, a keen marathon runner and adventurer, who has climbed Kilimandjaro and taken part in the Desert Marathon.
. The daily life of the team members was turned upside down, but in a healthy way, with heavy training that was scientifically followed. This was during the lunch breaks, evenings, and week ends.
The DIAGAST Marathon Team (see photo) had to follow a strict diet and nothing was left to chance : all resources were mobilized to succeed in this challenge. And, on the evening of the 10th of April 2005, our 6 members of DIAGAST joined the closed ranks of marathon runners with heavy legs and a happy fatigue but with the satisfaction of having met the challenge.
MARATHON DES SABLES (8-18 april 2005) 230 km TU
RUN, alone, in the South Morrocan Sahara.
Beyond this physical challenge, this race brings together men and women from all over the world who share the same passion for the race and for going beyond their personal limits.
The Desert Marathon is also a high level sporting event, requiring effective management. During a week, the runners have to time their physical effort and their food and water needs. The marathon takes place in the South of Morocco where the hot sun can make temperatures soar to 50°C. Due to the nature of the landscape, the human body is put under great strain Participation in this race demands weekly training of 80 to 150 kms. Some of the participants are of a high international level but most of the competitors are simply amateurs; daring adventurers living their dreams; going beyond their personal limits or taking part in a marathon, famous as one of the best endurance races as neither food nor material is provided by the organizers for the runners, who are thus obliged to carry their own back pack. There are 6 stages in all, from 25 to 80 kms during 7 days.
Among the competitors was our CEO, Mr Yves BARBREAU, who, true to his reputation as an open-minded and caring manager, did not approach this adventure as simply a personal challenge but as the opportunity to support a humanitarian cause, the charity, the
A.F.S.E. (The Evans Syndrome French Association).
This commitment was also a way for him to deepen his motivation if necessary as, in order to overcome his tiredness and daily suffering during the race that he had chosen to endure, he always had in mind that he was running for a good cause to benefit young children who had not chosen their suffering. Their courage in the face of illness gave him inspiration.
